Why Shakes Are NOT a Sustainable Plan for Your Health – What to do Instead

While shakes are effective in helping people lose weight, KEEPING IT OFF is another issue. Why?

You would have to stay on them for as long as you live!

And who wants that? In all honesty, these replacements often aren’t as satisfying as real food.

If you are like me, you like to eat!

It is very true that users will lose weight quickly when they start this diet because they are cutting calories.

But replacing meals with liquids and living on so few calories while potentially cutting nutrients, isn’t something that most people can continue doing for a long time.

When people go back to their regular eating habits and increase their calorie intake, they will certainly find the pounds creeping back.

USDA Nutrition guidelines suggest filling your plate with a balanced mix of protein, fruit, vegetables, grains, and dairy.

It’s difficult to get all those nutrients and food groups into a meal-replacement smoothie and still have it be tasty and low in calories.

And while creating a calorie deficit is the best way to lose weight successfully and sustainably, we have to remember the right number of calories is different for everyone, because of factors such as age, sex, weight, and activity level.

Bottom line, shakes cannot be the nutrition solution for all people.

The reality is that the only lasting solution is to reshape your lifestyle by adopting healthy new habits and breaking unhealthy old ones.

The purpose of eating healthy is to help you lose excess weight. The goal is to make simple, pleasurable changes that will result in a healthy weight that you can maintain for the rest of your life.

Focus on changing your daily routine by adding good habits and breaking bad habits, such as eating more fruits and vegetables, good carbs and lean proteins. Cut out junk food and all types of excess sugars.

If you want to be successful, you must be able to enjoy the types and amounts of food you eat.

Let’s recap.

How do we do that for as long as we live?

  • We learn how to drop unhealthy lifestyle habits and gain healthy ones
  • We improve our health and reduce health risks by eating healthy unprocessed foods.
  • We don’t eliminate entire food groups!
  • We pick a nutrition method that we can stick with for life, not a fad or quick fix!
  • Eating for nourishment is meant to be positive, practical, sustainable and satisfying, so you can enjoy a happier, healthier life over the long term.

So, there you have it! I hope this information helps you think differently because remember:

When you change your mind, you change your body!
